My Return

Hey guys sorry I haven’t been posting lately, I ran into some health issues. Winds up I had a fracture in my right foot and two herniated discs all while in the middle of a killer sinus infection. So the doctor felt kind of bad for me and didn’t want to put me into a cast so he told me to get some rigid boots (Timberlands in my case). As far as my back goes I have to wear this bulky uncomfortable back brace. Hopefully after several weeks it will get better and I won’t have to wear it any more. However he has already informed me that this will come back several more times in my life after viewing my MRI films. I will start posting more frequently now and put some more time and attention to building up the forums and photo album sections.

The Big Chill

Ever have one of those days where you shouldn’t have even considered getting out of bed? Well today is one of those days for me. It all started when the end users of yesterdays database work started saying they were missing data and bank accounts. That was bad enough in itself now one of my clients in Atlanta a Stock Trader lost his Internet connectivity. At first it was a system wide issue in Georgia which was fixed within the hour. It then was compounded when his firewall decided to go south for the winter (Motherboard is Toast). So now I have to build, configure and ship one before 5pm, Lucky Me. Hope your day is better, because it can’t be any worse than mine.

My Precious!

This just arrived at my local T-Mobile today and I have been waiting for a “Crack”berry with bluetooth that didn’t make you look like a dork while you talked into it. I got off the train and headed directly to the store to pick mine up. This thing is uber-sweet, you have to use this thing to believe it. The one thing that is really cool is the built in AIM, Yahoo & ICQ messengers. The AIM client which is what I use is actually an AOL designed client, at least it behaves like it.

I owe these guys a drink!

Who says hackers are bad people? This group of hackers has definitely won brownie points with me. It seems as if the hacker group calling itself “TeAmZ US” is out to hack any terrorist website. And recently took down Zarqawi’s website and posted the image below. The image was a screenshot that InTheBullpen was able to grab before the terrorist group restored the site. A link to the full story and a full screenshot can be found on the link below.

Today was a sad day indeed

My mother was scheduled to fly to Germany for my Grandfather’s 100th birthday celebration in November. I was going to surprise them both by flying out there without any advanced notice. Unfortunately, that celebration will never occur. My Grandfather passed away in his sleep this morning in Greene, Germany. He had a full and memorable life and was recently plagued with health issues and cancer. He is now with my Grandmother in a better place free of pain and suffering. He is survived by his three Daughters and four Grandchildren. Rest in peace Opa.

Son of a biatch!

Remember I warned you about the JPEG exploit that was coming. We’ll a proof of concept for the exploit has been publicly posted. We’ll that didn’t take long now did it? With the proof of concept now public it will only be a matter of days before new viruses and Trojans start floating around taking advantage of the exploit. Patch those Microsoft products immediately or cry later.

Censored at Yoshi’s Forums!!

I don’t mean to be a pain and usually refrain from negative posts about the screensavers. However could you tell your producers to start laying off of the 50 million homes line. It’s great that your channel is available in 50 million homes but you don’t have 50 million viewers as your plug is trying to make people think. If you’re producers/G4 keep up with the lame tech segments and bunny suit skits your new logo will be:

“Were available in 50 million homes, but have only 30 viewers”. And the 30 are family members of the cast and crew.

Sorry to be harsh. But the show has definitely taken a turn from a serious show to a “Laugh In!” episode. There’s an idea put up a wall with small doors and have people stick their heads out with lame tech jokes.

Please don’t I was being sarcastic.

Forums Back Online!

The forums have been completely redone. I have decided to go with a commercial product rather than phpBB. This was done to add more functionality and flexibility to forums. Also being able to call someone for support is an added plus. If you were a member before you will have to re-register. Sorry for any inconvenience this switch over may have caused.

Ground Zero Three Years Later

After dinner in the city I decided to take a cab ride down to ground zero. They were commemorating all those that lost their lives there that fateful day three years ago. They had the towers of light on that evening to symbolize the Twin Towers. It was a very somber experience to step out of the taxi and see all the people that came down to view the lights and look at the placards of the names of all those who lost their lives and the items that were left behind in memorial. There are no words to express the feeling of sorrow I have to this day of the events of that day. My prayers go out to the families of those that lost loved ones that day. My prayers also go with those in the armed services who risk their lives everyday abroad to insure that something of this magnitude never happens again on our soil.
I have posted pictures in my Photo Album section.

A Taste of Germany in NYC

Zum SchneiderAfter visiting one of my clients in New York City yesterday I decided to take my wife to a German Beer Garden down in the East Village called Zum Schneider. The restaurant is located on 7th St & Avenue C. We have gone there before and really enjoy the restaurant. I had on of the best Weinerschnietzel I have ever had, period! My second best now, was in a Beer Garden in Vienna, Austria. I also kept nibbling on a Brotzeitteller which basically a cold platter with various cold cuts and cheeses served with a basket of bread. This was all washed down with numerous liters of Hofbrau beer. The place has a friendly atmosphere, you are seated at communal picnic tables which invoke random conversations with strangers. All in all we had a great evening. If you are in that part of town you have to give the place a try.
