Another IE 7 pop-up security flaw discovered | CNET News.com

Another flaw found in the newly released Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Don’t you just love how the general public has unwittingly become beta testers. I guess you really can’t blame them that much, there is always going to be some type of security hole in any application designed, nothing is 100% secure. I’d love to run into one of these idiots that design the malicious code, I had have a few.. Let me not get into that, it might come back to haunt me durng my murder trial. LOL

Security researchers on Monday warned of a vulnerability in Internet Explorer 7 that could allow malicious attackers to alter content in a legitimate Web site’s pop-up window. The browser flaw could affect users who visit a trusted site by opening a pop-up window in that site but containing malicious code. This is the second IE 7 flaw that has been discovered since Microsoft released the browser two weeks ago. Last week, a security flaw was discovered in IE 7 that could spoof the address of a pop-up window.

Microsoft Live Writer

I am writing this entry via Microsoft’s new Blog editor called Live Writer. Live Writer is currently in Beta and has been designed to post entries into it’s Live Spaces. The application however also allows posting in to various other services and APIs. From all the external editor’s have used in the past this is the first one that actually works well with what I use for my own sites. The software I use for my servers is Expression Engine developed by pmachine. The other nice caveat I have found with this software is that it makes it easy for me to post the same entry into several sites easily. To read more about the application and download it for yourself please follow the link below.

Clueless

I often wonder how our elected officials can write laws to protect us concerning technological matters, when they seem so out of touch with technology. Two recent events amplify my feelings in the matter. Recently Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” poked at little fun at Congress during hearings concerning videogame violence. Several congressmen considered themselves gamers for playing pong and solitaire, that’s a joke right? Congressman Joe Pitts made remarks that poorer kids would be more influenced by these video games than their well to do suburban counterparts. My jaw dropped when I heard those remarks. The video below is an excerpt from the show in question and is quite humorous to watch.

Now on to the Net Neutrality issue. The net neutrality legislation which is trying to make its way through is in essence trying to protect the consumers and business alike from being charged a tiered level to have content delivered to them. AT&T started the matter off by saying that Google and other companies like them were getting a free ride off the ISPs backs to deliver their content to the consumers requesting it. This is far from the truth since companies like Google pay for their Internet access and bandwidth which I would have to assume is quite sizeable. Telcos are getting worried since they see their customers moving away from conventional telephone service to cheaper VOIP solutions. In essence they want any content not coming from their own services charged extra to get to their customers. This is just short of extortion. Ted Stevens recently gave a speech concerning the matter in front of his peers and is one of the most hilarious things I have ever heard. Below is a clip of his speech. When you hear comments and speeches like this, you fully realize that probably most of our elected officials have no clue about technology and the Internet. If you are going to talk about or even vote on legislation you obliviously know nothing about, shouldn’t you learn about it first so you can make a sensible logical decision or statement?

Intel Pushing Up Launch Of Conroe:

[H]ard|OCP Although Intel has declined to comment, DigiTimes says that their sources are saying that Intel is pushing up the launch of the Conroe and 965 chipset to July 06.

According to Intel’s original schedule, the 965-series chipset and the Conroe CPU would have been launched in the second and fourth quarter of 2006, respectively. Smooth development of Conroe, however, has enabled Intel to reschedule the launch of the new CPU and revise its marketing strategy, said the sources, adding that the launch of its 965-series chipset will be delayed by a week or two.

The Return Of The Broken?

After a long hiatus it seems as if a new episode of The Broken is about to be released. Over the weekend I was watching the latest HAK5 episode which has a pretty funny spoof of dignation at the end, BTW. They also make mention of a possible new episode of ‘˜The Broken’. So early this morning I jumped on to the Revision3 forums and there it was, a new section was added ‘thebroken Episode Discussions˜. So keep your eyes opened it might be any hour or day now.
